Original Question:

Larry Gatz asked us:
“Hi—In triggers, is there a way to add logic to a condition? I have a trigger to add a client to a pipeline if they have a ‘Client’ tag, but I want to duplicate the trigger to put the leads into another pipeline, hopefully with a NOT Client filter… is that possible?”

Answer:

Yes, Agent CRM allows you to use conditional logic to determine which pipeline a lead should be placed in—but instead of using Triggers, you will need to use Workflows.

How to Set Up a Workflow to Sort Leads Based on Tags

  1. Go to Workflows

    • In Agent CRM, navigate to AutomationWorkflows.
  2. Create a New Workflow

    • Click “Create Workflow”“Start from Scratch”“Create New Workflow.”
  3. Set Up the Trigger Event

    • Click “Add New Workflow Trigger.”
    • Choose the event that starts this workflow (e.g., a new appointment is set).
    • Add any additional filters (e.g., appointment status = confirmed).
    • Click Save.
  4. Add Conditional Logic

    • Click “+” and type “If/Else.”
    • Under Conditions, select “Contact Details.”
    • Scroll down and choose “Tags” → “Includes” → Select ‘Client’ Tag.”
    • Click Save.
  5. Define Actions Based on the Condition

    • If Tag = “Client”

      • Click “+” → “Add/Update Opportunity.”
      • Choose the correct Pipeline and Stage (e.g., “Existing Clients” Pipeline).
      • Click Save.
    • If Tag ≠ “Client” (No Tag or Different Tag)

      • Click “+” → “Add/Update Opportunity.”
      • Choose a different Pipeline and Stage (e.g., “Leads” Pipeline).
      • Click Save.
  6. Save and Activate the Workflow

    • Click Save Workflow and toggle it ON.
    • Now, leads will be automatically sorted based on whether they do or do not have the Client tag.

Why Workflows Instead of Triggers?

Workflows allow for multiple conditions and branching logic—Triggers do not.
You can create “If/Else” logic to separate different lead types dynamically.
Automates lead management without requiring manual intervention.

By setting up this workflow, leads will be automatically assigned to the correct pipeline, keeping your sales process organized and efficient.

2 notes on this:
1. I forgot to mention in my video, but you will need to turn the Workflow to “Active” after you complete it.
2. You may need to open Agent CRM in an incognito window for the Workflow section to allow you to build your workflow.
