“Need some tech support… I bought my domain from GoDaddy but host the domain with HostGator. When I go to GoDaddy ‘Manage DNS’ for my domain, I see this: Is there a video tutorial showing me how to verify my domain when this issue arises? Thanks for the help!”
Answer:
Since your domain is purchased through GoDaddy but hosted with HostGator, you’ll need to update your DNS settings in HostGator, not GoDaddy.
📌 Follow this guide from HostGator to update your DNS settings:
👉 How to Change DNS Zones, MX, CNAME, and A Records
Step-by-Step Guide: Updating Your DNS in HostGator
Step 1: Log Into HostGator
- Go to https://portal.hostgator.com/ and log into your account.
Step 2: Access Your DNS Settings
- Navigate to Domains → Advanced DNS Settings.
- Locate the CNAME, MX, and A Records section.
Step 3: Add or Modify DNS Records
- Update your CNAME record to point to the correct service you are verifying.
- If you’re setting up Agent CRM, follow the specific instructions for CNAME and A records provided inside your Agent CRM account.
Step 4: Save & Verify
- Click Save Changes and wait for the changes to propagate (this may take up to 24 hours).
- Go back to your domain verification page and confirm the setup.
Why This Happens?
- Since your domain registration is with GoDaddy, it still shows the DNS settings.
- However, because your hosting is with HostGator, your active DNS settings are managed there.
- Updating the DNS in the correct hosting provider (HostGator) ensures your domain connects properly.
