Original Question:
Doran Burnside asked us:
“I have a funnel set up and a trigger that adds them to a pipeline. Is there a way to add them as a contact and not an opportunity? Just realized these leads are affecting my close rate and they aren’t true opportunities yet.”
Answer:
By default, new leads are automatically added to your Contacts page in Agent CRM, meaning they are stored as Contacts regardless of whether they are also assigned as Opportunities.
If you want leads to be added as Contacts only (without being counted as Opportunities in your Pipeline), you’ll need to adjust your trigger settings.
How to Prevent New Leads from Being Added as Opportunities
-
Go to Automations
- Navigate to Automations → Triggers inside Agent CRM.
-
Find Your Existing Trigger
- Locate the trigger that is adding new leads to your Pipeline.
- Click Edit to modify the settings.
-
Remove the ‘Add/Update Opportunity’ Step
- Look for the action that says “Add/Update Opportunity” in the trigger.
- Delete this action so that new leads are added to Contacts only without being assigned as Opportunities.
-
Save and Test
- Click Save to apply the changes.
- Submit a test lead through your funnel and confirm that they now appear in Contacts only, without affecting your close rate.
By removing the “Add/Update Opportunity” step, your new leads will remain as Contacts but won’t be included in your Pipeline metrics, keeping your close rate more accurate.
