By Alex Salas, Life Insurance & Mortgage Protection Agent

I want to be upfront with you before I say anything else: I’m not a polished spokesperson. I’m not a top producer with a six-figure agency. I’m a guy who is relatively new to the insurance space, still working two other jobs, and building something from the ground up.

So when I tell you that Agent CRM changed everything for me, I need you to understand that I’m saying that from the starting line — not the finish line. Because I think that’s actually the most honest and useful version of this story you’re going to hear.

The Way It Was Before

Let me paint a picture of what it looked like to try to build an insurance agency on your own without a real system.

You wake up, you have leads — names and numbers you paid for — and then you just… start texting them. One by one. Manually. You’re trying to figure out what to say, when to follow up, how to book an appointment, and how to not lose track of the person you talked to yesterday. There’s no process. There’s no pipeline. There’s definitely no automation.

I was spending hundreds of dollars on leads from vendors, and those leads were going nowhere. Then I signed up with my current agency and they said, “Pay $1,000 to $2,000 a month and we’ll generate your leads for you.” So I did that. And now I had leads coming in from two different places with no central system to manage any of it.

Here’s what I’ve come to understand: the reason the turnover rate in insurance is so high has nothing to do with people’s ability to sell. A lot of agents can close a policy. The problem is everything that surrounds the sale. When you work for a company, they put you into a nice little system from day one. You show up, you clock in, here’s your computer, here’s what to do next. There is structure built around you.

When you do insurance independently? There’s no system. There’s no organization. There’s no stepwise motion to help you feel accomplished and keep going. You are just stumbling through it alone, and eventually, a lot of people hit a brick wall and stop.

That was almost me.

How I Found Agent CRM

I was looking for a better solution. I knew there had to be something out there. I found one platform that used GoHighLevel as its foundation, but when I emailed them for more information, I heard almost nothing back. The system looked okay but it wasn’t very clean, and I didn’t feel supported at all.

Then I came across Agent CRM.

What grabbed me immediately was that there was a video attached to every single thing you needed to know. Every feature, every setup step — someone had already made a video for it. It was clean. It was polished. And it was inside GoHighLevel, which can be a clunky system if you don’t have the right foundation built for you — but Agent CRM had done that work already.

I said: wow, this is it.

But honestly, I didn’t know the half of it yet.

What I Found When I Got Inside

I’ve told people this, and I’ll say it again here: Agent CRM is a hidden gem. I genuinely don’t understand why every insurance agent isn’t using it.

Out of the box — and I want you to hear this clearly — out of the box, you already have a domain, a website, a polished set of automations that you can just let run. Even if you’re not doing outbound calling yet. Even if you’re still getting organized. The system is working for you from the moment you plug in.

Not too long after I signed up, leads started texting me back. I looked at my phone and I thought: success. People are responding. What a great system.

But the feature that genuinely surprised me wasn’t any one tool. It was the support.

Other companies say, “Come to us. We have the tools. We’ll support you.” And then you log in and you’re just stumbling through things by yourself. You’re figuring it out alone, which is exactly what you were doing before you paid for the software.

Agent CRM is different. You actually have your own person. It’s almost like you have a mini marketing team and a mini support team standing behind you as an individual agent. I’ve never experienced anything like that. For a solo agent or a small agency, that kind of support is genuinely unheard of.

I told Agent CRM founder Alex Branning directly on our call: “You are like what I envision support to look like.”

I meant it.

The Beginner’s Bottleneck (And How Agent CRM Is Solving It)

I have enough skill to get on a call and close a policy. That’s not my bottleneck. My bottleneck — what I started calling the “beginner’s bottleneck” — is knowing what my daily practice looks like inside the CRM to consistently turn leads into appointments.

Alex Branning helped me get clear on this during our call. He walked me through a concept he calls the trust differential.

When someone fills out a form for mortgage protection insurance, you have to assume they’re probably filling out forms from multiple agents at the same time. The agent who wins the sale is the one that person trusts the most, the fastest. And Agent CRM gives you the tools to build that trust before you ever pick up the phone:

  • Your contact card and photo in the first text, so when you call, your name shows up instead of an unknown number.
  • Short Loom videos in your follow-up emails, so leads are getting to know your face and your voice before they even talk to you.
  • Connecting on Facebook after initial contact, so you become a real human to them — not just another agent who texted them out of nowhere.

These aren’t complicated tactics. They work because they solve the real problem: leads don’t convert because they don’t know you yet. Agent CRM gives you the systems to fix that.

I’m now tracking my lead-to-appointment numbers. I’m refining my sequences. I’m doing the work with a real system underneath me for the first time. And the difference is everything.

“Like a Man Who Finds a Treasure”

I’m not great with scripture, but I do listen in church. And when I was trying to explain to Alex Branning what Agent CRM feels like to me as a new agent, I kept coming back to a parable.

There’s a story about a man who finds a treasure buried in a field. He’s so certain about what he’s found that he goes and sells everything he has just to buy that field — just to make sure he doesn’t lose it.

That’s exactly how I feel.

I’ve got about $300 left in my business account right now. I’m not saying that to make you feel sorry for me. I’m saying it because I want you to understand the conviction behind what I’m about to tell you: I am so confident in Agent CRM that I believe this is the thing that’s going to build my agency. I found it at the beginning — at the refined beginning, where all this beautiful technology is already set up for me — and I am not letting go of it.

People look at it and say, “Yeah, it’s software.”

No. No, no, no.

This is your entire operation in one place. There are gems after gems after gems built in there that people walk right past. You don’t have to think about them — they’re already there, working for you, if you just use the system.

If everyone in insurance had Agent CRM, they’d be crushing it. That’s not hype. That’s what I’ve seen in the short time I’ve been using it.

If You’re Where I Was Six Months Ago

If you’re new to insurance, or you’ve been grinding for a while and still feel like you’re stumbling through it alone — this is for you.

You don’t need to figure out seven different pieces of software. You don’t need to text leads one by one. You don’t need to build your website from scratch or write your own automations or wonder if your follow-up sequences are even going out.

Agent CRM does all of that for you, out of the box, on day one.

And then it gives you a team behind you to help you grow.

I’m a new agent. I’m still working two other jobs. And I’m telling you: this is the ticket.
