One of the most exciting things happening right now in insurance technology is that an agency owner can deliver their own CRM, with a custom tech experience, to the agents on their team.

Your agents get the tools. Your agency gets a branded, consistent way of working. It’s a real advantage.

But there are two very different ways to go about it, and one of them can quietly eat your calendar and distract you from growth.

Option 1: Do it all on your own

The first way is to get the CRM on your own and build it up within your team. You can hire someone to run it, or you can oversee it yourself as you launch your own CRM.

Either way, if this is on your plate, you’re now wearing a lot of hats:

  • The tech support hat. Every time something breaks or an agent has a question, it lands on you or your hire.
  • The innovator hat. Technology is changing fast. Someone has to keep up with the new features, learn them, and figure out how they fit your agency.
  • The helper hat. As support issues come up, someone has to jump in and fix them.

I’ll be honest: you don’t want to do that. It pulls you away from the work that actually grows your agency.

Option 2: Partner with someone who does this for a living

The better move is to find someone you can partner with. They oversee the tech, so you don’t have to.

A good partner is the one who:

  • Oversees the technology for your agency
  • Answers the support questions your agents have
  • Helps with A2P (the registration your agents need to send business text messages)
  • Innovates and develops new ideas as new tools come out

That means when an agent is stuck on setup, they have a place to go that isn’t your cell phone.

Where your time makes you the most money

Here’s the question I want you to ask yourself: what is the most revenue-generating way I can spend my time?

Is it tech support? Absolutely not.

Your time makes the most money when you’re:

That’s where you move the needle. Every hour you spend on password resets and setup questions is an hour you’re not spending on those three things.

What to look for in a tech partner

There are a lot of people who do what we do, and there are a lot of great options out there. As you compare them, ask:

  1. Who answers my agents’ support questions? Is it me, or is it them?
  2. Who helps with A2P and setup? Do they handle it from start to finish?
  3. Who is responsible for innovation? Will they bring me new ideas and deliver them, or will I have to figure it out?
  4. Do they understand insurance? A generic CRM company doesn’t live in your world.
  5. Are they compliance-centric? In insurance, this matters.

Why I’d love to be your “who”

I think Agent CRM is the best in the space for insurance agency owners, specifically. Here’s why: we live, eat, and breathe insurance marketing, and we are compliance-centric.

I want to be your “who.” I want to be the nerd in your corner, supporting your team, helping them use the CRM, coming up with ideas, and delivering things to you. We’re always working on new ways to take AI and all the other tools that are available and use them to grow your agency.

Don’t get distracted

There are a lot of cool ideas out there right now, and there is a lot of opportunity. Honestly, one of the biggest distractions today is all of that opportunity.

So if you’re an insurance agency owner building your team and taking the next step with technology, my encouragement is simple: don’t get distracted. Find someone who can do all of this for you.

Then go do what only you can do: recruit, grow production, and train your team.

I would love to be the nerd in your corner as we build out the technology department for your agency.
